Tomighty is intended to help you manage your time based on the Pomodoro technique. This tiny timer runs from your system’s menu bar. The Pomodoro technique recommends dividing your working hours into 25-minute periods as a way to increase your productivity. The name Pomodoro comes from the Italian word meaning “tomato” because the timers typically used have the shape of that fruit.
The application is extremely easy to use as the idea behind it is that it may serve as a substitute for the actual timer. Thus, it only requires clicking on its icon to start measuring time. Fortunately, you can set work and rest periods different from those recommended by the technique. Thus, instead of using the standard combination of working for 25 minutes and then resting for other 5, you could, for instance, set a 30-per-15-minute rhythm. Likewise, it is possible to change its interface theme and pick your favorite ring sounds.
All in all, Tomighty can effectively help you increase your productivity by focusing on finishing tasks within periods of 25 minutes each. Although the application is actually tiny, it is a shame that it requires Java Runtime to work properly, which may significantly increase the storage space used. Moreover, it is also bad that is not updated very frequently. The product is opensource and can be used at no cost.
