TopStyle is intended to create and edit stylesheets, which allow you to control the overall layout of a website. Thus, by changing the parameters in the stylesheets, you can change the look of all the pages, without the need to edit their contents. This program can help you do this task even if you cannot write the necessary code; however, it may still be far beyond what most common users can do. Luckily, the product comes with very detailed help documentation, including a tutorial.
The tool has a nice interface, which is also highly configurable. In this regard, there are various interface layouts: Default, Full and Minimal, which you can choose depending on your purpose and expertise. Likewise, the program lets you manage your documents with workplaces. This way, it is possible to restart a given project exactly where you left it. For instance, all the documents you were using at that time are automatically opened.
TopStyle supports various CSS implementations (1, 2, 2.1 and 3) as well as multiple browser specifications. Even so, compatibility problem among the resulting CSS and the target browser may arise. That is why it is excellent that there is a style checker to validate your code for different browsing conditions.
One of the best assets of this program is undoubtedly the availability of wizards to create a new stylesheet. It takes you through such steps as setting text color, selecting font types and attributes as well as configuring text alignment and link formats. You can also preview the results to see if there is anything else you would like to change. Good news is that the tool allows downloading data from FTP servers and websites, which you can upload back after editing.
All in all, TopStyle is undoubtedly a great tool. The product is shareware and its trial version can be tested only for a period of time. After that, it is a requirement to register the software to continue using it.
