As the name suggests, µTorrent (micro-torrent) is a small size torrent downloader. Although it occupies very little disk space and uses very little of your system's resources, it isn't limited in features. In fact, it has so many of them that you probably won't need all of them.
The application is so easy to use, almost no one will encounter any difficulties. After the program is installed, it requires no configuration, working perfectly out-of-the-box. However if you desire to customize it, the utility is very flexible allowing you to fine-tune almost anything you can think of. In fact, it lets you go in so deep, there is an advanced tab where you can modify some variables that the program uses internally.
The Auto Shutdown menu lets you choose if you want your computer to quit the application, reboot the operating system, or shutdown the PC, when downloads are complete. If you don't trust this system and want more control, you can easily setup the remote feature and then access your torrent downloader through a web browser on your phone or tablet.
Last few versions came with some features that make transferring files across devices a lot easier. After adding your device(s), you can drag and drop files and the application will automatically make any necessary format conversions before uploading those to your smartphone, tablet or gaming console. The bundle menu is also a nice addition. Here, you can find legal music or video downloads from different artists in the world.
Like many other free programs, this includes advertisements to generate revenue for the developers too. However, they are non-intrusive and usually relevant to the user. But if you don't want to see them anymore, you can buy µTorrent Plus which also includes antivirus protection and an HD video player.
Although this utility has all the nice extra-features, what is most attractive about it is still its effectiveness, speed and low-impact on system resources. It just works smoothly, downloads fast and intelligently leaves some bandwidth for your other apps if they need it.
