For many reasons we might need to record activities happening on our computers' screens. If you are a teacher you could use this software to explain your students how to perform a task on some of those complex programs you use for a specific subject. But also, you could use it to explain how to do something with your computer or how to solve a common problem. This is an ideal software for creating tutorials, but you can also use it to record a video file and then watch it as many times as you want. The program can record a selected region or the entire screen.

This program has the advantage of being extremely easy to use. Just click on the record button on the program's window, select which part of your screen you want to record, and then do what you have to do. Once you click on the stop button, the program will automatically save the file to the previously chosen output format. You can set the application to automatically play the files you recorded. Normally, the media player associated with most formats on your computer will pop up and play it.

Total Screen Recorder Gold comes with hotkeys for all of its functions. Plus, it has a timer in case you want to set how long the recording must last.

By clicking on the options placed on the view menu, you can choose what the output format will be (AVI, WMV, SWF or FLV). If you choose it to be FLV, you could then upload the file to your website or any video-sharing website.

Normally, when recording, the software will indicate that it is recording with a green square on the spot it's recording. But the Gold version has a sneak mode that will let you record any part of your screen without anyone noticing you are recording.
