Developer:

Route planning software to create GPS routes for your TomTom or Garmin navigation devices on your computer. The tool integrates Google Earth and Google Maps with your GPS device to search, create and share routes with others. Includes over a 1000 ready-made routes.

Tyre can help you plan travelling routes. It combines the advantages of such a comprehensive map database as Google Earth with those of global positioning. Thus, it can communicate with GPS devices as TomTom and Garmin to provide your actual position on a map. The resulting routes can be saved to any of the two mentioned gadgets.

The application has a straightforward interface in which the central element is a map. This way, you can easily find a given address. Then, it is easy to place waypoints on the map to conform the desired route. What is more, it can connect to online hotel-booking databases and help you make your reservation while you create your route. Similarly, you can use it to calculate the most efficient route connecting various locations or, otherwise, if you are interested in making your trip enjoyable, you can let the program choose those routes that are most attractive from the touristic point of view. Depending on the edition, Tyre can also give you advice on the location of gas stations or motorcycle-friendly hotels along your way.

Tyre can export the results of your work to TomTom, Garmin, Google Earth, OziExplorer and Navigon files. What is more, if your smartphone is running TomTom app, you can also follow the generated routes on it. Additionally, it can also connect directly to those devices and send them all the required data. Unfortunately, unlike Google Earth, Tyre cannot store an offline map database; therefore, it is indispensable to have an available Internet connection for the program to work properly.

v6.4 [Sep 3, 2013]
- Tyre is now able to communicate with the Interphone GPSBike system.
Just connect your Interphone GPSBike system to your computer and Tyre will switch to Interphone mode. That means that the Tyre menu will be adapted according to the needs of the Interphone system. Copying a route to the Interphone GPSBike device is very easy: just select ‘Copy’ from the ‘Interphone’ menu. When you copy a route to the device, Tyre will do it in the proper format (which is the KML format). Manipulating files on the device is easier than ever before: just select ‘Open’ or ‘Delete’ from the ‘Interphone’ menu.
- If you want to display all available gas stations on the map, you can select ‘All’ from the menu (‘View’ > ‘Overlays’ > ‘Gas stations’ > ‘All’). Tyre will become a slow starter and for each map it will consume more time to show all elements. Unselecting the ‘All’ option, will restore the previous situation for selected and unselected gas stations. (Note: this option is only available for Tyre Professional.)
- An option has been added to the library: on selecting folders from your computer, you can select and deselect your profile folders from the list.
- There was a bug in saving the route preferences for Tyre Route Files (TRF), when the file was empty. It caused an error message. The bug is gone now.
