VisualDesigner is intended to design different types of graphics. In this regard, the tool can be used to create a wide range of graphic types including diagrams, flowcharts, floor plans, UI mockups, system flows, data hierarchy, class diagrams, network diagrams and process flows. Thus, it comes in handy for professionals, students and home users alike.
The application has an intuitive interface, very similar to those of other drawing tools. For instance, there is the canvas in the center, the toolbox on the left as well as the layers and properties panel on the right. Luckily, there is an extensive library of pre-built objects you can use, which are also conveniently classified according to their use. Likewise, you can insert simple shapes with an absolute control of their appearance, for instance, by adding shadows, assigning colors, inserting clipart and choosing a type of stroke. Similarly, the tool allows adding text, though it has the limitations that you cannot use a different format for a certain part of the text. Also, as to drawing connecting lines, VisualDesigner allows easy manipulation and flexibility.
Good news is that the tool supports complex operations. In this respect, it is possible to use layers and work more comfortably with graphics containing many elements. Moreover, objects can be positioned exactly where you want them thanks to the possibility of arranging them through the use of rulers, a grid and snapping. One of my favorite features is the way the application handles line crossovers automatically, with the additional possibility of manually using Bezier curves.
The application can share data with other similar tools. For example, it is good that it can import and export VSDX and VSDM (Microsoft Visio) files. In addition, the resulting graphics can be saved to various picture formats, including SVG, PNG, JPG and TIFF, as well as PDF documents.
In short, VisualDesigner is recommended to design multiple types of graphics. The product can be downloaded from the Mac App Store at no cost. However, the free version has limits on the number of objects and shapes you can insert in each graph, which you can avoid by upgrading to the Pro version via in-app purchases. By the way, its price is very reasonable considering that other products of this type are much more expensive.
