VisualDiffer is intended to help you spot differences between folders and files. In this respect, the tool uses a system of colors, which facilitates visually comparing them. Good news is that there are different comparison techniques available, which you may choose depending on the available time and desired granularity of the results. For instance, it is possible to quickly compare two folders just based on file date and size,, or, on the contrary, perform a much slower byte-per-byte comparison.
Using the tool is extremely simple. Luckily, there are only two basic steps. First, you should drag and drop the intended folders onto the application's window. Then, press the Show Differences button and let the tool do the rest. Additionally, you may want to exclude certain file types from the comparison. As said, using colors to mark different data is an excellent solution. Fortunately, it is allowed to save work sessions so that you can spare stsrting the entire process from scratch. Good to know there is a built-in editor you can use to fix any undesirable differences.
Unfortunately, VisualDiffer cannot help you automate processes involving two folders, specifically merging and synchronizing.
In short, VisualDiffer uses an excellent method to help you compare files and folders based on not only their properties but also their contents. This extremely light application can be purchased from the Mac Store at a very reasonable price.
