VK Player is a utility that lets you play music files uploaded to VK.com. VK.com is a very popular European social network. It is one of the most visited websites in Russia and it has over 133 million accounts. Users can upload, search and stream multimedia content to the network, which allows you to use this application to stream MP3 files from the website to your Mac with no need to have your web browser open.
The main application window consists of two panes and a toolbar at the top. There is a search field that you can use to search for songs, artists or albums. You can double-click on any of the results to start playing that song. By default, the application will play all the search results. There are checkboxes next to the songs, but I couldn't figure out what they were for. The pane on the left lets you access your VK friends, groups, albums, downloads and default playlists.
The quality of the songs that I played was quite good. Some of them were interrupted for buffering occasionally, but most of the time the audio playback was quite smooth. The user interface was a bit unresponsive when selecting new songs to play and there was a few seconds of silence between each song.
