The story follows two different strands, each with its heroes and events, one follows the Empire and Elven Forces and the other the Hordes of Chaos and Skaven forces.

Imperial Plot: Few years have passed since the Emperor Magnus the Pious has blocked the advance of Chaos to Kislev, and the Empire is still recovering from raids of Chaos. The campaign begins during one of the battles with the Count Otto Gruber who fights against a massive army of marauders, but the action moves immediately on a minor clash on a nearby hill, where the young captain Stefan von Kessel is escorting the Count guns to strike the enemy hordes.

Chaos Plot: The campaign begins in the lands of the North, where a sample of Chaos named Thorgar the Thoroughbred, who was part of shipment of Kul, a powerful champion who had besieged Kislev few years before, wanders without apparent purpose. Suddenly, he has a vision: an energy globe, which clearly has a chaotic provenance, tells him to spread south in search of glory. After some raids, this herald of the gods imposes entering a cave to face the trials of the gods and choose a single master.

The music has been very carefully done, and despite a certain lack in the number of scores, it is of excellent quality and conveys the epic and violence of a troubled world.
