Weather Monitor 6.0

Weather Monitor is a small, neat, and yet feature-rich and effective desktop gadget meant to offer a convenient solution of checking the current weather conditions and the weather forecast for your current city.

Among many desktop gadgets that I tested from the same developer, Weather Monitor is my favorite, and the one that I used for the longest time, since its early versions. Its mixture of simplicity and comprehensiveness charmed me. It's simple when it comes to its appearance, as it can prove to be really unobtrusive and easy to handle, and it's comprehensive when it comes to the number of supported additional features, customization possibilities, and advanced options.

For example, it also includes a window that shows the weather forecast for the coming days, for your selected location (city), a window that shows astronomical data like the sunrise time or the moonset time, a window that shows parameters related to geomagnetic storm monitoring, and so on. It also lets you change the automatic refresh time interval (manually refreshing is also possible), the units for temperature, pressure, visibility, and other parameters, and so on. Its look is also fully customizable, as it enables you to change the widget's colors completely.

The only thing that I would improve about Weather Monitor was the city selection option. When you want to change the city for which the weather data is displayed, you have to pick and copy its code from a long list opened in a separate text file. I would have preferred a function neatly integrated in the program's options window. Anyway, it's not a big deal, this gadget is still truly great.

In conclusion, Weather Monitor is a nice desktop gadget that offers a really nice and convenient manner of keeping an eye on the weather conditions.
