WhatPulse is a counter that keeps statistics about your keyboard and mouse use. It is not a keylogger of any kind. It does not keep a history of the keys that you type, instead it counts them as well as the clicks that you make with your mouse and the distance that your pointer travels on the screen.

WhatPulse runs in the menu bar, where you can access different windows that show your statistics in real time. One of those windows is called Geek Window. This one shows the number of keys that you have pressed, the mouse clicks, and the meters that your mouse pointer has moved. The other window shows your keystroke frequencies. This window lists all the keys on your keyboard and the number of times that you have pressed each since the app has been running. You will be amazed to see how many times you type letters and other characters in a single typing session.

WhatPulse can send your usage statistics to their servers and with that data you can compete with your friends to see who types more and who moves their mouse more.

I tested the app while writing this review and I found that I use the backspace and the space bar keys more than any other key on my keyboard. I also tend to use the "e" letter quite a lot. In total, I used 1889 characters to write a 1280-character text. Apparently, I need to work on my efficiency. This is an interesting use for this app. I don't find it useful to compete with anyone on how much I use my keyboard, but there is a lot of data provided by this app that I can use to improve my writing.
