Get convenient access to your Wi-Fi connection details such as network name, channel, transmit rate, signal strength, noise level, and more. Monitor the quality of your wireless network to avoid connectivity issues and performance degradation by recommending alternative channels that minimize signal overlapping and channel conflicts.
WiFi Signal is a system utility that gives you information about the wireless network you are connected to. This includes the name of the network, the name of the hardware provider, the BSSID, transmit rate, channel, channel rating, signal quality, signal strength, noise percentage and signal-to-noise ratio measured in decibels. This data can be useful for a variety of purposes, but the main one is to diagnose reception problems.
It should be noted that most of this information can be already found within Mac OS X when you hold the "alt" key and click on the wireless network icon on the menubar, but as the developer correctly states on his website, Mac OS X doesn't give you any recommendations on which channel would work best for you and it doesn't provide SNR measurements, channel ratings, signal quality, and it doesn't show the signal strength in a percentage.
The channel recommendations are only shown when your current channel rating is below four stars.
In conclusion, some users will probably benefit more from this app than others. It really depends on your current network hardware setup. If you don't get any good recommendations from this app, you can simply uninstall it and use the "alt" click approach to see more information about your WiFi network.
