Willing Webcam is an advanced application for recording streaming video and capturing pictures. It is compatible with most USB-based or FireWire video devices.
The program offers different ways to record video or to take pictures. For example, the user can choose between live streaming and time-lapse video (snapping a picture at a specified time interval), or set the application to turn on the camera at a slightest change in the picture. This function is possible thanks to a motion detection sensor – a nice addition to the application, enabling you to use your regular camera for surveillance purposes. Also, it is able to save video files locally, upload pictures to your FTP site or attach them to an e-mail. Some graphic effects are also available: you can add comments, date and time stamps, as well as watermarks to your videos and pictures. A useful feature is the compatibility with instant messaging programs (Skype, Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo Messenger and others). The app can even transfer the video stream to the IM programs, if your video equipment doesn’t work with them directly.
All these functions, however, suggest that the user is quite experienced in working with electronic devices and the Internet. To set the application, one should be familiar with such terms as FTP, IP address, HTTP Server and others.
The system requirements are quite common: Windows 98/2000/XP/Win7/Win8/Vista, although Vista users will need to install Java Virtual Machine on their computers in order to use the HTTP Server feature.
To put it in a nutshell, the application represents a quite complex and efficient instrument for recording video streams, creating and working with graphic files, and would be mostly appreciated by advanced users.
