WinX Convert DVD to MOV is a free DVD ripping utility. It can be used to convert your DVD movies into MOV video files, which are supported by every Mac and all of Apple's devices. The app can also convert your movies into MP4 files, using both the H.264 and MPEG-4 codecs. Movies can be loaded either from the DVD disc itself or a folder on your Mac.
This application's graphical user interface doesn't look really good, mainly because it is too similar to WinX's applications for Windows. Despite the lack of quality in its design, this tool does work quite well. And it is rather easy to use. After loading a movie, you will see all the DVD titles that make it up, and you can select all of them or just the ones that you want to convert. After that, you can select whether you want to convert to MOV or MP4 from the buttons at the bottom of the screen. Down there, you will also find the conversion settings for each format. Some of the options that you can change are audio codec, audio sample rate, volume and audio format, video quality, frame rate, output image setting, and resolution.
WinX Convert DVD to MOV lacks some features that you probably are used to seeing in commercial converters, like a video editor and conversion profiles. However, since it is a free tool, I can't really complain, especially when the app works well.
