Wire is more than just an instant messaging application for Mac. Besides letting you send messages to other Wire users, this program also enables you to hold video conferences, send files to other people, and manage multiple accounts from a single window.
The application comes with a nicely-designed and intuitive interface. Before using the utility on your Mac, you first need to log in to a Wire account. You can create a new account directly from the program's interface and immediately log in using the previously entered credentials.
You can manage as many Wire accounts as you like, import contacts from your Google account or Contacts app, block or mute certain users from your address book, and so much more. The app enables you to make audio or video calls, send documents, and hold conferences with multiple users.
The only disadvantage is that the program might run slowly when trying to import files for sharing with other Wire users. Still, this doesn't happen often.
To sum things up, Wire proves to be a reliable solution for sending messages, making audio and video calls, and sharing files directly from your Mac. It's effective, easy-to-use, and free.
v3.0 [Sep 26, 2017]
- Improved: If you’re logged in with multiple accounts then it’s now easier to see which one has new messages.
- Fixed: Switching a language and immediately restarting the app would not change the language.
- Fixed: Selecting part of a message and copying it with right-click would add the whole message to the clipboard. Now it grabs just the selected text as intended.
- Fixed: Adding people to a conversation from the menu or via shortcut will no longer show an empty list.
