This application is designed to help you save backup copies of your DVDs. In practical terms, it works as an ordinary video and audio converter that allows you to convert media files into popular formats supported by your Mac video player and personal portable device. The only difference from a regular converter lies in the types of input files supported, which are all DVD-related.
The tool's interface won't impress you too much – it is rather simple, yet highly intuitive, displaying the logical steps to follow to make a good backup. First, you need to load the files you want to process – you can import ISO and IFO files, as well as DVD folders, either from your computer or directly from DVD disc. Once the files are added to the list, you are able to select an output profile. The selection is done by file extension or, more conveniently, by the name of the device. Advanced users have the chance to tweak parameters like video resolution, frame, bit and sample rates, codecs, and audio channels.
In addition, the program comes with an embedded video editor that empowers you to crop the image to a preferred size, trim part of the file, and adjust luminosity issues, like brightness, contrast, and saturation. Furthermore, you can protect your newly created files with text and image watermarks, customizable in terms of opacity and position on the screen. It is also possible to take snapshots of the played video file, which you can save as BMP and JPG image files.
XFreesoft Mac DVD Backup Copier is a user-friendly and easily manageable application. The main functions are right there at hand for fast access, an attribute that makes the backing-up process easy to carry out.
