XPS (XML Paper Specification) is a file format created by the Microsoft company that's very similar to the PDF format. Unfortunately, Mac OS X doesn't provide you with a default utility for reading this type of documents. For this reason, programs like XPS-Reader were developed.

The program lets you read only the first half of pages from the imported document. You need to make an in-app purchase to get rid of this limitation. The acquiring price is affordable and definitely worth it if you plan on using this utility later on.

On the main toolbar of the application, you will find multiple reading options as well as a search tool for immediately finding the words or phrases you need from the text. The utility also features options for exporting the pages from the imported document. These are the supported formats: PDF, TIFF, JPG, PNG, JP2, GIF, BMP, and TXT.

Another great thing about this tool is that it lets you easily extract the images from the XPS file and save them as individual files to your local folders.

In conclusion, XPS-Reader proves to be a reliable solution for reading XPS files on your Mac. It's easy-to-use, provides you with various reading options, and allows you to extract pages from your XPS files within moments.
