XSplit Gamecaster is a program for live video streaming that was created specifically for people who play video games and want to share their experiences online. The program is compatible with all major streaming platforms, such as Youtube and Twitch, as well as various lesser-known sources. It lacks some of the more advanced features of similar streaming applications, but works perfectly within its specialized area.
XSplit Gamecaster was specifically designed to be easy to use, so it's installed and launced quickly, providing users with the interface so intuitive it literally takes a couple of clicks to start streaming. The program can be used right away without any additional setup due to default settings being pretty much optimal. Every parameter and function of XSplit Gamecaster is automatically set up after scanning your system and identifying hardware. This does not mean, however, that there are no adjustable settings. Users who possess enough knowledge may access the settings and change them manually to suit their goals better. However, despite being intuitive in everything else, the program is best left with default settings, as only experienced streamers will be able to really tailor the settings to their needs.
Additional features and principal functions of XSplit Gamecaster are also easily adjustable. Users can change hotkeys, assign additional options to the program, set up chromakey an add hyperlinks to their streams. Every feature can be easily added or hidden depending on whether the user wants it or not. The same goes for the live-chat extension available in the program.
All in all, XSplit Gamecaster is pretty much the tool for newcomers to use when they want to try the streaming thing. It's light, it's compatible with everything, and it does most of the work for you. In our age of comfort and automation, these virtues are what makes a good program.
v3.3 [Mar 8, 2018]
Version 3.3 is more about flexibility, adding important new features and options to a streamers toolbox.
The biggest feature of this release by far is Macros, which allows you to setup a variety of automated actions that can be triggered in variety of ways. There’s a lot that can be done with this feature and we have actually already demonstrated some in our Macros blog post. We highly suggest you to check this out in case you haven’t yet
Another highly requested feature is the ability to separate microphone and system audio in recordings which is also now possible in this version. This provides more flexibility for post processing your recordings using third-party applications. This feature is also available in XSplit Gamecaster along with some other nice additions such as Mixer chat, follower and subscriber alert, and Twitch Cheers support.
