yEd is a simple name for a simple, yet very useful application. yEd is a graph editor, a tool that helps people create and edit all sorts of diagrams.

User-friendly and with a fast-loading architecture, yEd supports and creates a wide variety of diagrams, such as BPMN diagrams, flowcharts, family trees, UML class diagrams and almost any diagram type you could think of.

yEd allows you to import objects from a big number of formats, such as GraphML, MS Excel 97/2000/XP and 2007, GEDCOM Genealogical Data and a few other and export your work in a big number of picture types or save the data in the previously listed formats.

yEd was built as an intuitive-to-use application and wrapped in a simple and fully editable interface. Besides some basic interface features, yEd provides the user with a set of tools that can be used to enhance the quality of the schemes, such as Geometric Transformations, Graph Analyzer and Selected Edges Reverser.

With all this being said, yEd is a highly-recommended graph editor. Best of all, it is free!
