Zen is a Mac application that provides you with a simple text editor which you can use when writing material for school, your own novel or a personal journal. The program brings you a user-friendly interface, lets you change the background image of the editor, and allows you to toggle fullscreen mode if necessary.
The utility features an option to import or append files from your local directories and lets you print your writing material directly from its interface. You can change the text style by going to Preferences menu and selecting the proper font size and type.
Honestly, I'm not sure how this program would help you boost your creativity and keep you focus on your work. The utility doesn't provide you with an auto-lock feature for other apps that could distract you from your writing and doesn't play relaxing background music or sounds. Other programs offer you these features.
Another thing I don't like is that the application supports only two output formats: ZEN and TXT.
With that being said, I think you can find better solutions for boosting your creativity and staying focus when writing novels, school materials, etc. Even though this application is free of charge I still don't believe it's worth installing it on your Mac.
